Punjab govt decides not to block PTI’s Azadi March
The sources, on the other hand, told that the workers of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) will not be allowed to leave Model Town to participate in the long march, and whoever will defy the orders will be dealt with iron hands. However, they are allowed to protest outside their secretariat, sources added.
It may be mentioned here that the PTI workers and sympathizers are due to march towards Islamabad, dubbing it as ‘Azadi March’ while the supporters of PAT are determined to partake in the ‘Inqalab March’ (revolution march) announced by their leader Dr Tahirul Qadri.
The Punjab government has also imposed Section 144 in the Model Town and other adjoining areas, deterring the gathering of masses and carrying or displaying arms and ammunition.
